At SATG, kindness knows no season! To celebrate their 1,000th day of school, our amazing 5th graders took on a special mission—spreading love to those in need. They created 1,000 heartfelt cards and knitted scarves to bring warmth and joy to the homeless.
Mr. Plaspohl, a proud SATG grandparent, helped distribute these gifts through the Labre program in inner-city Cleveland. He shared this heartfelt message and photos from those touched by our students’ generosity:
“SATG 5th Grade Students and Teachers,
Below you will see a few pictures of those individuals who received the Valentine cards and warm, handmade scarves made by the 5th graders at St. Albert the Great School.
We included all the cards in the bags of food we provided to our homeless and unsheltered friends we visited this past week.
Their eyes lit up and their spirits were lifted up higher when we told them who took the time to make these cards for them. It brought back memories for many of them when they made cards in school as well.
Ricky, who is in the second picture carrying the blue bag, started to cry. He was overwhelmed that others were thinking of him.
Thanks for being the hands and feet of Jesus for our friends.”
Also included: Dr. Goebel distrubted some of the messages to her cancer patients, and the Barwacz family spent an afternoon leaving them throughout a local mall for busy shoppers to find. What a beautiful way to celebrate 1,000 days of learning, growing, and serving others!
